Gyo-O (Revisit)- Bukkake Udon and Oyster Milk Ramen!
Ever since G-Men closed down, Gyo-o has become my go-to
place for ramen in Richmond. I love everything about this restaurant from the
casual and cozy atmosphere, to their quality seafood. I have already written
two posts on Gyo-o before (visit #1 and visit #2) so you can probably tell how
often I revisit.
This time I came with Meta Knight and we ordered two items
to share. The first dish was Tako Wasabi
Bukkake Udon w/ Egg ($9.75) and it consists of udon (with no soup), seaweed,
Tako Wasabi (raw octopus with wasabi), and a barely poached egg. You are suppose
to break the egg apart and mix everything together!

It also comes with a sauce similar to soy sauce to wet your
noodles and provide some flavour if needed.

I absolutely loveeee Tako Wasabi and Gyo-o’s raw octopus is
always fresh every time I come.

After mixing, it kind of looks like this. The flavours are
light and it is not especially filling, but it is very tasty.

Next, we shared the Oyster
Milk Ramen ($14.95) and it looked very impressive upon arriving at our
table.

There were two medium sized oysters which were great, but
one more oyster would have made me a happier girl. 😛 The milk broth was very
rich and flavourful but was quickly absorbed into the noodles. After a few
minutes in, there was barely any broth left. I wish I could have asked for more
broth because that is really what made the ramen so good!

Based on these reasons:
- Tako Wasabi is a must try item!
- great atmosphere
- very authentically Japanese
- seafood is always fresh here!
