Nuba (Gastown)- My New Obsession: Deep Fried Cauliflower.
I opted for the Lamb Hushwie ($9) which consisted of sauteed minced lamb with onions, pine nuts, and spices all atop hummus with a bit of avocado on the side. The lamb was incredibly flavourful thanks to the spices and when I ate it with the hummus, avocado, and pita bread, it was a perfect marriage on the palate.
Complimentary pita bread that I used to eat the lamb hushwie with.
Having had half her dinner before hand at home, Misu chose the lighter Red Lentil Soup ($4). I was quite surprised by the quantity considering how inexpensive it was.
I don’t think I could forgive myself if I went to Nuba without trying the Najib’s Special ($7.50) aka Crispy Cauliflower so we got one to share.
Deep frying the cauliflower completely changed the thing I dislike most about them. The toughness of the stem and florets. These were tender with a slight crisp on the edges and it becomes severely addicting when you taste the lemon and sea salt as well.
Overall, Nuba was a lot more affordable than I expected and I absolutely cannot wait to try their other dishes!
