Mang Inasal (Boracay) – Addicting Flame Grilled Goodness
If you ever get the chance to go to the Philippines, you should definitely consider going to a little island in the Philippines called Boracay. The Boracay island and its beaches has won numerous awards from many travel publications/journals. In fact, Boracay was named The World’s Best Island for 2016!
I came here with my friends as a side trip when we went to the Philippines and indeed, Boracay is VERY beautiful. White powdery sand, turquoise waves, snorkelling/stand up paddleboarding/watersports at your fingertips, and an incredibly lively nightlife, this IS the destination if you are wanting some R&R.
The most touristy part of the island is split up into 3 stations. The 1st Station is where all the chic resorts are, the 2nd Station is where all the nightlife and markets are, and the 3rd Station is very local (by that I mean, a little dingy). D Mall is the main market in Station 2 and one fast food place we went to twice during our stay here was called Mang Inasal which was located inside this mall.
Mang Inasal is known for their flame grilled Filipino chicken with rice and the flavour they achieve with the grill is something I cannot describe. I hate to say it but it’s so much better than Nando’s!! I got the SM1 (75 php/ ~$2.50 CAD) which is the 1 piece chicken with rice.
They have this delicious soy sauce which you’re suppose to squeeze the small green lime looking thing called a kalamansi in it and the sauce goes soooo well with the chicken. As well, they have an orange chicken oil (healthy right?) on every table which you can also use to pour all over your chicken and rice. Even if you care about your calories, I SUGGEST YOU DO IT! You only live once, amiright?
Mang Inasal was so delicious and incredibly cheap so if you are in the Boracay area (or honestly anywhere in Manila), I would highly recommend giving their 1 pc chicken meal a try. Just make sure you also use the chicken oil and soy sauce/kalamansi with the rice and chicken!
