Tai Hing Congee and Noodle House- Who Here Likes Organs??
Tai Hing Congee and Noodle House is a hole in the wall type
of restaurant located on Park road across from Richmond Center.
They specialize in, you guessed it, congee and noodles!
When I come here, the only two items I ever get are the Homemade Style Noodle in Soup ($6.35) and
their congees. FYI, the homemade style noodle in soup has a lot of ingredients
that might scare a lot of people with conservative palates. But I’ll talk about
that later… 😛

Their congees are always very delicious and it comes with a
side dish (your choice of fried rice noodle, fried noodle, rice noodle roll, or
dough fritter and rice noodle roll) too.

The noodle in soup comes with a drink and I got the standard
hot Milk Tea.

The Homemade Style
Congee ($5.35) is always super tasty and contains an abundance of
ingredients such as sliced fish cake, squid, pork skin, meat, and a bunch of
other random stuff.

For the side dish, I ordered the steamed rice noodle roll.
If I’m not mistaken, they make it fresh which is great because it makes a HUGE
difference.

I totally drowned my rice noodles in peanut sauce, sweet sauce,
and sesame seeds! They give you the whole bottle so what the heck. 😀

Now this is what I was looking forward to when coming to Tai
Hing! Their ‘Homemade Style Noodle in Soup’ contains…wait for it… pig’s
blood, pig’s intestine, fried pig’s skin, and marinated radishes. 😀 By now you should either be completely repulsed by this or suddenly craving it. 😛 I am (obviously) the
latter and writing this makes me want another one right now!

The coagulated pig’s blood did not taste as bouncy as I
would’ve liked but was good nonetheless.

The oil noodles that it came with were al dente and tasted
great with the flavourful broth. I highly recommend getting this as this is
their signature dish!

If you don’t mind a really ugly looking exterior/interior
and snappy service, give this place a try because the food is actually pretty
decent and inexpensive. Their congees are less intimidating, so if organs gross
you out, that is always a good option. 🙂
