Peaked Pies Vancouver – ITS FINALLY HERE!!
Whenever I go to Whistler, I always ALWAYS visit the Australian pie company called “Peaked Pies” located near Splitz Grill and Elements (great brunch place) for their meat pies. About two years ago, I wrote a blog post on the Whistler location which you can see here.
Much to my surprise and delight, I found out Peaked Pies has opened up a Vancouver location on Denman street just one week ago! Meta Knight hasn’t had it in years so I brought him here for some nostalgic pie action.
Their bread and butter product is their savoury pies. From The Hopper which has kangaroo meat (!!) to Chunky Pepper Steak (which is still my personal favourite), they’ve got various pies that will appeal to everyone’s taste buds. Now, the other really cool thing about this place is that you can get your pie “peaked”. What that means is for $3.25 extra, you can get your pie topped with mashed potatoes, mushy peas, and two generous scoops of thick gravy on top. My recommendation? ALWAYS GET YOUR PIE PEAKED!
In addition to their pies it looks like they also serve homemade breakfast sausage/veggie rolls during the am. Might be a good breakfast option for people working in offices near Denman street.
Similar to many other cafes and hipster foodie places in Vancouver, they offer one large communal table as their seating option.
At this visit, we shared a Peaked Steak and Mushroom Pie ($7.95 + $3.25). Yes… insert drool here.
I think a picture is worth a thousand words so I really don’t need to tell you how delicious this tasted, and how it reminded me of shepherds pie, except better because of the mushy pies and pie crust. If you are ever in the Denman/ downtown Vancouver area, I would HIGHLY recommend checking this place out. Especially since you don’t have to venture out to Whistler to get a taste of this Aussie deliciousness!
